Our Bodj Fat Lip log basket was selected as a finalist in the Utilita Manifesta ‘Fight Poverty’ design competition. It picked up yet another accolade at theBest Awards held in Auckland. Winning Bronze in the Best Product Design category the basket was designed by New Zealand based Chris Jackson as part of an ongoing collaboration for our Cambodian fair trade initiative. Fat Lip is a simple yet clever update of the humble log basket as Chris explains:

‘Doing away with the traditional notion of a handle, the oversize rim of 'Fat Lip' can be grabbed anywhere, resulting in an ergonomically preferable design solution, whilst the light weight steel frame within the basket provides a splash of contemporary colour.’

Marrying innovative design with traditional Khmer weaving techniques the basket is made using local and sustainable materials. The project is based on the outskirts of Phnom Penh training up a number of young men from disadvantaged backgrounds.
